Brought to you by a caffinated Hackman!

AAAAAAAAAAAAH! (no, it's not the precalc HW) I know I said I'd update yesterday... little did I know that I'd spend the entire day outside my house... =(

I come back, after 2 days off the computer, and I find... 63 new emails... After rooting out stupid junk mail (2/3 of it), I find out I have a lot of news to post... and I have all day to update today (as well as do my precalc and US history homework...)

Today in the news:
- TCG News from the Video Update
- Pokémon X as...
- Apprentice has competition!
- Other quick news bits

- TCG News from the Video Update
To briefly put it, Prop15 (the movement to limit trainers to 15 per deck) is in heavy playtesting, and isn't expected to ever appear in tournaments for a while anyway. Wizards is almost done signing with Media Factory for the rights to print the Pokémon Neo sets. And I have a remote control for my videocamera. =)

- Pokémon X as...
Squall Strife has some breaking news for us... A new Pokémon game named Pokémon Crystal! It will come out on December 14, 2000. "It was originally called Pokémon X and it is the one where you can play on Game Boy caller and through the phones."

- Apprentice has competition!
Oooh, The Echidna himself has sent us something cool. A program is under devolpment designed to... play the Pokémon TCG over the Internet. The creator? Email Homero. The link? http://realhomero.webjump.com

Download the demo, and see some screens at his site! This ought to be really cool...

- Other quick news bits
AngurisNeo has seen giant Charmander plush toys from Hasbro!

From Anarch, "When asked if Wizards had any plans of releasing a stictly American Origional set, one of the Master Trainers replied 'maaaaby:)'. That looks like a yes to me!" Coolness!

Email me at pds64@hotmail.com if you have any news. By the way, a bunch of people have asked if they can have their site links posted here... I'm not sure if I could (read: should) do that, but I'm pretty sure Nick's working on a hosted sites page... (Next scheduled update: Monday)

Thursday, August 24th, 2000 (later update)
Brought to you by Hackman!

Looks like some people can't see the video news... I was pressed for time last night, and wasn't able to get the news posted in HTML. I'll put it on for Saturday's news, and from now on, I will post an HTML update with every video news.

Well, until then, have a great day! (btw, first day of school wasn't that bad... 30 precalc questions due monday... no problem...)

Dang, I start school today... well, wish me luck. Email me at pds64@hotmail.com if you have any news. (Next scheduled update: Saturday)

- Why the lack of updates?
You can blame Ech. No, no, I'm just kidding... partially. You guys have been sending me lots of cool stuff, and a lot of it are pics from future games! The only problem is... the PA! Watermark...

I'm working on today's update, so don't worry. =P

By the way, I got a major positive resonse from the video news last time... so I'll do it again sometime! =)

Brought to you by Hackman!

Today in the news:
- RESPONSE: Trainer Limits in TCG Tournament play?
- Pokémon Stadium 3: First looks!
- PTM2K in Scandinavia

Lets welcome another new scout: Kris!

- RESPONSE: Trainer Limits in TCG Tournament play?
Hey, we've already got some replies to the rumored Trainer Limits in tournament play. Here are a few of the responses I recieved:

"It is ridiculous!  People know to use Trainers by now, and they're obviously taking advantage of how easy to get they are.  So instead of limiting them, WotC should have more trainers in their decks which would get people to put
more in their decks.  Trainers are great and add strategy to an otherwise simple game." --DWells55@aol.com

"What's this about these 2 proposed rules for Pokemon TCG? 15 Trainer limit: This is pure foolishness. 15 trainers can't tap the wide vast potentional of moves you can do. Switch, Gust of Wind, Energy Removal, Professer Oak, Bill, all these cards and their fellows provide a next level to the Pokemon TGC. Pokemon would just be attacks, attacks, attacks, attacks, with out any sabatoge or manultiation. 2 Trainer per Turn: This even worse than the 1st. 2 trainers per turn can not be manlipulatave or as powerful as 3 or 4 trainers per turn." --raichu6714@hotmail.com (Andy)

"I prefer the trainer limit of 15. I mean a lot of deck's survive on using multiple trainer combo's. It would make a lot of bad thing's happen to a lot of decks." --chris.novak@home.com (Chris 091)

And perhaps the most summarized response:

"I think the TCG is good just the way it is, and the proposed changes blow." --RCEBrain@aol.com (Pikamaster)

So most people see Trainer limits as a bad idea... but just remember, at this point it's just a proposition. (whew...)

- Pokémon Stadium 3: First looks!
I wonder what NOA will name this game when it reaches our shores... hmm, I wonder... (thinks for a little while)

Well enough of that, here's some screenshots, courtesy of new scout Kris!

Look at the Pokémon Stadium 3 Pics!

- PTM2K in Scandinavia
Pokemon the Movie 2000 will be released in theaters on December 8 in Sweden, Denmark and Norway.

Thanks to pikaroy@hotmail.com for the news!

Brought to you by Hackman!

Let's see what we have...
- Trainer Limits in TCG Tournament play?
- Article on 'Common' rares
- Another 'Lost' Episode!
- G/S Trainers not nameless?
- Have your macaroni and cheese in a Pokéball!
- First the Pikachu Beetle, and now...

Hey, second day of the job and already we've got some better news than what I scrounged up. It's a good sign. We also have another news scout: Anarch! Welcome to the team!

- Trainer Limits in TCG Tournament play?
Our new scout Anarch brings up some news!

Wizards is currently bouncing around a few ideas on altering the TCG from it's current format. These propositions pertain to Trainer limits in decks. Wizards feels that the deck pool has gotten too shallow. The only decks that are doing very well at tournaments such as STS are Haymaker and Wiggly variants. The perposed trainer limits are thought to do away with this, and make it so that evolution decks can have a better chance. The first idea is a 15 Trainer limit. This takes away many options for a Hamaker considering Haymakers rely heavly on trainers. The second proposition is a 2 trainers per turn rule. This rule would make it so that you could only play 2 trainers per turn. Out of the two ideas I perfer the latter, but feel that any limitations are unjust.

What do YOU think? Email me what you think about this, and I'll post some of your responses in the next updates.

- Article on 'Common' Gym rares
Looks like some people are really having bad luck with Gym: Heroes packs, with Misty's Tentacool, Brock's Zubat and some other 'common' pokémon as rares. FeZz has written an article/rant about it.

Gym Heroes "Deck" Cards-WHY ARE THEY RARE?

- Another 'Lost' Episode!
The Legend of Dratini has been dubbed into English, but Electric Solider Porygon has not, and will not. All Episodes Of Pokémon have been dubbed, up until the end of the series and the start of Pokémon GS. Pokémon GS will not feature episodes from before the GS times so America will not see Electric Soldier Porygon.

This news brought to you by AngurisNeo!

- G/S Trainers are nameless?
News scout AngurisNeo reports this: trainers in G/S will be classified like they were in R/B/Y (i.e. Lass, Beauty, Cool Trainer, Gambler...) but will also have names. (i.e. Joey, Bob, Steve, Janet...) Oh well, it's the end of anonymity. =P

- Have your macaroni and cheese in a Pokéball!
AngurisNeo does it again: Coming soon from Kraft Macaroni and Cheese is a special bowl that looks like a Pokéball. Maybe I'll have that for lunch...

- First the Pikachu Beetle, and now...
Today must be AngurisNeo day, he's sent in the majority of today's news, including this: it seems that there's a G/S version of the well-known Pikachu Beetle. And it is... The Lugia PT Cruiser!

Only another month till I get my license... maybe I'll be driving one of those... in my dreams. =)

Wow. Busy day. Email me at pds64@hotmail.com if you have any news, or want to become a news scout! (only a few positions left!)

Brought to you by... Hackman!?!

Key things today:
- Get your Gym: Heroes!
- East Coast STS qualifiers!
- Warm, comfy Pokémon pillows and blankets!

Hey everyone! Hackman reporting! I know you expected MegaX to update the news, didn't you. Seems that he's having a combination of connection problems and other stuff keeping him busy. So this is, most probably, a temporary position for me. Oh well. =)

- Get your Gym: Heroes!
Yesterday was the official release of Gym: Heroes. Some rumor has it that not many 1st edtion packs have been shipped as of yet, but keep your hopes up when you go to get it!

- East Coast STS qualifiers!
Those of you who missed out the Pokémon TCG Tour because of its locations, here's your chance! The tour's going to the East now, passing by many states in the South and East coast. If you want more info, visit Wizard's page!

- Warm, comfy Pokémon pillows and blankets!
To end this news report, we'll show a picture of some new pokémon pillows and blankets!

Courtesy of pokemon.com, makes you want to sleep in, huh?

That a wrap for the news for now! Have news? Email me: pds64@hotmail.com if you have any news, or want to become a news scout! If you send it to MegaX, I believe he'll forward it to me... maybe... (BTW, Ech says I need to get some real news up. Hehe...)

Thursday, August 10th 2000
Brought to you by the one and only, MegaX!

Key things today:
- Gym: Heroes Info!.
- Gym: Challenge Info!
- Gym 3?
- More promos?
- G/S Release date earlier!
- Not just keychains! Even more goodies to send away for!

Hmmm... It's weird how one day of your e-mail address being up can create 20-something replies... oh well. I'd like to welcome aboard AngurisNeo, Squall Strife, and Brandon Green as my first 3 news scouts! Good luck guys! Man, there's a lot of news today... I'm almost wondering if there will be any left for tomorrow...

- Gym: Heroes Info!
I've discovered that the coin in the Gym: Heroes preconstructs will be a Staryu. Seems Misty's a lot more popular than I thought. I perfer Lt. Surge myself, but I don't think they'd make another Raichu Coin (Japanese)... Oh well, just a small bit 'o' news. <sigh> Wish I had a scan...

- Gym Challenge Info!
Well, At WotC they have already come up with a tentative release date for the highly anticipated Gym: Challenge Expansion. The tentative release date is December 25, 2000. What a Christmas gift, eh?

Thanks to my new News scout, Brandon Green, for this great news!

- Gym 3?
There are some rumors foating around about a possible Gym 3, due in Japan around December (Wow, big month!). I'll keep a close eye on this one for ya! (From another news scout, Squall Strife)

- More promos?
Oi! More promos! It's getting kinda hard to keep track of them all.

There's a rumor of TR's Mewtwo being a foil promo... I'm not sure about this one... I thought it was part of the original Gym 2... Oh well, I'll have more on this later...(From Brandon Green)

Promo #20 will be Psyduck, the same one as the Japanese manga Psyduck. More on this later...(From Squall Strife)

Misty's tears will be released, but it will be a promo, possibly #27. I'm not to sure when it will be released...(From Squall Strife)

Thats' it for the promo news... I'll try to find scans of these as soon as possible.

- G/S release date earlier!
News scout AngurisNeosent me a scan of his reserve ticket, showing that Gold and Silver will be released earlier than thought. Coolness! Looks like it's set for the 1st of October... alright!

Wow... I need to get mine reserved... Great job, AngurisNeo!

- Not just keychains! Even more goodies to send away for!
Good news! Keychains are just the beginning! You can get all sorts of neat stuff by sending away! Here's a list of what comes in what:

Pop-tarts: Figures
Kellog's Cereals: Battle tops
Snack-Ums: Tatoos
Eggo: Syrup pourer
Nurtri-Grain Twists: A Pokémon CD [PokéROMs, to be exact]

Mmmm... food and cool stuff. I need to go shopping...

Thanks to Eevee4u for this one!

Well, that's the news for today! Remember, e-mail me at: ivlegax25@aol.com if you have any news, or want to become a news scout! 3 Positions are left, so hurry! Good day to you all!

Tuesday, August 9th 2000
Brought to you by the one and only, MegaX!

Key things today:
- Gym: Heroes release date confirmed.
- New Promo... #18
- Better Scan of Misty's Seadra Prerelease!
- Pokémon keychains in Rice Krispies Treats!

Well, here we are. The first news update by the news updater. What fun! Well, I don't have much, but I'm still looking for lacki... er, scouts to help with the news, so email me if you want to help! My limit is 5 people, so hurry! (Be warned you will be required to find news before being "hired", so be prepared.)

Ahh, the news. Such a weird thing, isn't it? Well, here ya go:

- Gym: Heroes release date confirmed.
Well, I could've sworn Gym was being released today, but even I can be wrong. This statement from WotC clears up any confusion:

"On Moday, August 7, a press release was distributed for the Gym Series expansion for the Pokémon trading card game, incorrectly stating the release date for the Gym Heroes expansion as August 7. The actual release date for Gym Heroes is August 14. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused."

Thanks to Kirby of Kitsunan for this one.

- New Promo... #18
Well, another promo is being offered by the Pokémon TCG League! This time it's Team Rocket's Meowth. Thanks to Sharkdog for this scan of the new promo!

Apparently, it's another foil! Spiffy, eh? Eh. Well, get it while you can!

- Better Scan of Misty's Seadra Prerelease!
Thanks again to Sharkdog for this better scan of the new prerelease, Misty's Seadra!

(click for a larger picture)

Heh, enjoy!

- Pokémon keychains in Rice Krispies Treats!
Well, purity was telling me that keychains will be available through Rice Krispies Treats. Hmm... A great snack, AND a free keychain?!? Score! I'm not sure when, but keep an eye out for 'em.

Well, that's the news for today! Remember, e-mail me at: ivlegax25@aol.com if you have any news, or want to become a news scout! Until next time, good night, good fig...er...well, Good night.
